A founding partner of Cabix, Karen has long experience in journalism as well as media relations, issues management, strategic communication and in training.
Under Karen's leadership, Cabix's strengths cover issues management and strategic media communications, including community education campaigns.
Established in 1984, Cabix has become one of the most well known New Zealand media training companies. The team's journalism background and day-to-day involvement with the media as part of media management and media analysis work brings added value to the training Cabix provides.
Karen's background in journalism includes working as a BBC chief sub-editor in London, Radio New Zealand health specialist, current affairs producer, and reporter on daily newspapers.
She has carried out journalist training for Radio New Zealand, Television New Zealand and tertiary journalism institutes around the country. She is also one of three Cabix staff to have lectured in Public Relations and media studies at Massey University.
Kirsty comes from a background in daily journalism and knows what makes news, how to attract coverage, and how to make the most of media opportunities.
Kirsty is an experienced media trainer and is also involved in providing all aspects of public relations, including issues management, media relations, and strategic media communications.
As part of the Cabix team, she has been integrally involved in a number of special public relations projects, focusing on generating awareness and understanding of specific issues management.
Kirsty has been course controller for three papers at Massey University, two in Public Relations papers and one in media studies. She holds a Certificate in Journalism from Wellington Polytechnic, along with a post-graduate qualification in Public Relations and a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Education and English).
Gina has worked in journalism and communications since 1993, starting in daily journalism as both a reporter and bureau chief before moving into public relations.
Her work history includes corporate communications in Britain, developing brand awareness and growth strategies, organising stakeholder conferences and customer events, and working on internal strategic communications projects.
Gina is one of Cabix' senior trainers and is highly skilled in communications strategies, issues management and providing media counsel. She is one of three Cabix staff members to have lectured in Public Relations and media studies at Massey University.
She holds a Certificate in Journalism and has also achieved Accreditation in Public Relations, an international industry examination of achievement and competence.
